The food here is great. It is very wholesome and a lot of it is good for you. There are a lot of fruits and vegetables with meals, plus meat. Most of it comes from the Mediterranean diet in Italy and Southern Spain. My Señora makes a variety of items and insists on eating large quantities. Food in Spain is more than just about what you are eating. It is apart of the culture and serves as a social instrument. Tapas at night and eating with family/friends shows this. The dishes I have had so far are various sandwiches with cheese and meat, chicken, beef, fish, different types of soups and dishes with rice, beans, and peas, and many others. For dessert, there is often ice cream, gellato, or types of fruit. The only food I was not too fond of was the gazpacho, a type of cold tomato soup. Foods in restaurants are just as good as in homes as far as I can tell, but I will learn more about this as the semester goes on. So overall, it is healthy food that tastes pretty good, and in varieties I did not expect.
